Bethesda

The soft tear
is a lofty prayer
hidden behind hands
covering faces
holding vigil with Heaven;
it's like raining
backwards,
rain rising to cloud
and Maker,
dewing the barrel
that must be by God,
close at hand,
where He rests His finger,
water circling away,
promising healing
in this far-off pool
of Bethesda.
