There, There (Lullaby)

Where am I? Again
swept up in rushing currents
and traffic patterns

drowning in the noise
of need, crying "Look at me!"
Where? I shout, "There, there!"

where I see myself
reflected in desperate tears
that drown the whole world.

In welcomed silence
where long I reflect, silence
is not my longing

but peace and patience
to drink from Living Water
in community

with those who rejoice
though they have counted the cost
of constant weeping;

Where I sip the Wine,
savour M&Ms and hope
not to lose myself.
